Meet Habitat Team Rider: Ethan — Power, Progress & Chasing the Dream
We’re stoked to officially introduce (and welcome back) our newest Habitat Team Rider, Ethan. With early mornings, big goals, and a drive to keep pushing his limits, Ethan represents exactly what Habitat is all about — community, progression, and living for the ocean.
From England to Coolum: Where It All Began
Ethan spent his early years living in England before moving to Australia with his family. Not long after arriving, his parents booked him into surf school — and that’s when everything clicked. What started as a fun introduction to surfing quickly turned into a lifelong passion.
Now calling Coolum home, Ethan couldn’t ask for a better local break. With quality waves, good food spots, and skateparks nearby, it’s the perfect environment to train, unwind, and stay connected to the coastal lifestyle.
When Surfing Became More Than Just Fun
Surfing shifted from a hobby to something more serious for Ethan after entering his first competition. Even though the result wasn’t what he hoped for, it lit a fire. Instead of slowing down, it pushed him to work harder, improve faster, and chase the feeling of standing on top of the podium one day.
That competitive mindset now fuels his daily approach to surfing — always progressing, always learning.

Style in the Water
Ethan describes his surfing style as power-based, with a mix of airs thrown in when the conditions line up. He’s drawn to strong turns, speed, and flow, while continuing to build his aerial game as he levels up.
Inspiration: Flow, Style & Purpose
One of Ethan’s biggest inspirations is fellow Aussie surfer Ethan Ewing. His smooth style, natural flow, and powerful approach to waves have shaped the way our Ethan looks at surfing — not just about tricks, but about how you move on a wave and express yourself.
Dawn Patrols & Daily Rituals
When the swell is pumping, Ethan is up early. Alarm set between 0500 and 0530, he heads straight to his local break at Coolum to make the most of the conditions. After the session, it’s a quick rinse to wash out the salt and reset — ready to do it all again when the next swell hits.
Simple routines. Big commitment.
What Habitat Means to Him
Being supported by Habitat has given Ethan even more motivation to chase his surfing goals. He loves rocking the gear — describing it as loose, breathable, and designed perfectly for the beach lifestyle — but more importantly, he values being backed by a local coastal brand that genuinely understands surf culture and community.
For us, that connection is everything.
What’s Next: Goals for the Year Ahead
Over the next 12 months, Ethan is chasing some big milestones. In the water, his immediate goal is to land a Superman air — a move that’s been on his radar as he continues pushing his aerial progression.
Long-term, his dream is clear: to become a professional surfer and compete on the WSL. And if that path ever changes, he’s already thinking ahead — teaching others to surf, travelling the world, and staying connected to the ocean no matter what.
Learning on the Reefs of Bali
Ethan’s first trip to Bali was a major turning point. Surfing reef breaks for the first time came with nerves, but also massive growth. With every trip back, his confidence has increased and his skill level has climbed.
Surfing consistent, high-quality waves in a completely different environment has helped shape him not just as a surfer — but as a person. Adaptability, confidence, and experience all come with travel, and Bali continues to be a huge part of his progression journey.

Welcome to the Habitat Team
We’re proud to have Ethan representing Habitat and can’t wait to watch his journey unfold. Keep an eye out — big things are coming 🌊
Welcome to the Habitat crew, Ethan.
