Meet Marley – Our First Team Rider

Meet Marley – Our First Team Rider 🌊

At Habitat Collective, we’re all about celebrating the people and places that inspire our brand. That’s why we’re beyond stoked to introduce Marley as our very first official team rider. Growing up in the coastal town of Agnes Water, Marley lives and breathes the ocean — chasing waves, soaking up community vibes, and bringing a positive energy both in and out of the water. With big dreams on the horizon, he’s the perfect fit to join the Habitat family.

We sat down with him to talk about his journey so far, what inspires him, and where he hopes surfing will take him.

Growing Up in Agnes Water

“I think it’s awesome because it gives me a lot of freedom — we live so close to the beach to be able to surf as much as I can. The community in a small town is also awesome, it’s like having a big family.”

Agnes Water isn’t just Marley’s hometown — it’s his playground, classroom, and launching pad. Growing up surrounded by waves and supportive locals has shaped both his surfing and who he is as a person.

First Waves and Early Comps

“I was 4 when I started getting pushed on by Mum and did my first comp when I was 5 with Tide N Turn, our local board riders. I got hooked cause I had mates older than me that were good surfers and that encouraged me a lot.”

Surfing came naturally for Marley. Encouraged by family and inspired by older friends, he quickly found his rhythm in the water. By five years old, he was already paddling into comps and catching the competitive bug.

The First Board

“It was given to me by my friend’s dad, and that’s what I rode until I saved up to buy my first proper grom board.”

Like most surfers, Marley remembers his first board with pride. It wasn’t new, shiny, or custom — but it was enough to spark a lifelong passion. That early board carried him until he could save up for his first proper setup.

Favourite Breaks in Agnes

“There’s a steezy little A-frame close to where I live, and behind the rocks about 300 meters away from there. I mainly go wherever there is surf.”

With Agnes offering plenty of variety, Marley doesn’t have to go far to find fun waves. Whether it’s a playful little A-frame or the spots tucked behind the rocks, he’s always chasing the best conditions.

Surf Inspiration

“My inspiration is probably Jamie O’Brien because of how much he froths on surfing and how he’s always bringing a positive attitude in and out of the water.”

For Marley, it’s not just about performance — it’s about energy, passion, and positivity. He looks up to surfers who radiate joy in the water, like Jamie O’Brien, and aims to bring that same stoke to his own surfing.

Joining the Habitat Collective

“That there is a potential in my surfing and a career and you helping me achieve my dreams in surfing and stoked for the opportunity."

Becoming part of the Habitat family as our first team rider means a lot to Marley. It’s more than just a title — it’s a chance to chase his dreams, push his surfing further, and share the journey with a brand that shares his values.

Life Beyond the Waves

“If there is no surf I normally like to go skating, fishing or go and jump off the rocks with mates.”

Surfing is his main passion, but Marley’s lifestyle reflects the coastal freedom of Agnes Water. When the waves are flat, he’s still outdoors — skating, fishing, or just soaking up the adventure with friends.

Looking Ahead

“I would love to keep doing comps and explore different breaks and take it to a higher level and make a career out of what I’m passionate about.”

With more comps on the horizon and a desire to travel to new breaks, Marley’s journey is just getting started. His dream is to take surfing to the next level and build a life around the sport he loves.

Final Word

Marley represents everything Habitat Collective stands for: a love of the ocean, a deep connection to community, and a drive to chase adventure. We’re proud to call him our first team rider and can’t wait to see where the waves take him next.
